advanced to State Cup Semi Finals 

NorthStar 88, a women's U18 Premier Soccer team, advanced to the State Cup semi finals this weekend after defeating the Michigan Hawks 3-2 in their quarterfinal match on Saturday. 

The win earned them a spot in the semi finals played on Sunday.   The State Cup semi final round matches the four best teams in the state against each other. NorthStar 88 lost to Vardar (ranked 1 st in the state) in the semi final round.  NorthStar 88 season record is 20-3-1 .

NorthStar 88 is currently ranked third in the state, behind Vardar and the Hawks.   

NorthStar now focuses their attention to the Premier 1 U18 Division title in Michigan State Premier League play.  Team members participating in State Cup were: from Traverse City: Tina Adair, Ashley Ackley, Kari Buckel, Kaitlyn Burns, Jamie Furstenberg, Kacie Lumley, Kirstin Lumley, Danielle Reardon, and Marissa Wood-Sternberg; from Petoskey: Kendra Spencer, Katie Johnson, and Emily Murray, and from Gaylord: Dana Bush, and Whitney Hees. NorthStar 88 is coached by Jim Furstenberg.

NorthStar 88 advances to State Cup Quarterfinals

NorthStar 88 advances to the State Cup quarterfinals in Saginaw on Oct 1st. They will play at 10:00 against the State Cup pool 5 winner the Michigan Hawks. 

This past Sunday Northstar defeated TKO Premier 2-0 to lock in their place in the quarters.   NorthStar defeated the 2004 MSPSP Division1 winners TSC Scream 2-0 and then tied Bloomfield Force 2-2.   NorthStar 88 is a U18 Premier 1 Division women's team with a  2005 season record of 19 -1- 2.
